Avian Field Report - Sg Congkak Hulu Langat in the month of March 2016
The regular star of Sg Congkak still showing up in the month of March 2016. Supposedly there is a pair of them. This bird never fail to amaze all bird photogs here. As for me just shoot and go lor. I really kowtow some of the guys who come here just to shoot the guys again and again They never seem to be happy with their "perfect" shot i guess.
The Dark sided Flycatcher was at its favourite perch Occasionally it will chase the Asian Brown when the latter comes too near its position. The former is definitely bigger and stockier that the other.
The other high-light of the outing was the appearance of the uncommon Red-naped Trogon here in Hulu Langat. Whilst walking at the edge of the stream trail this pair pop out from the jungle fringe. This spell of mating time. Nesting may comes in the month of April-May.
In Congkak I have encounter most of spiderhunter species here. That includes the Long-billed (below), Yellow-eared (top), Spectacled and Little. I was hoping for my last lifer - the Thick-billed Spiderhunter to show up but fat hope maybe in Taman Negara Pahang or Rompin side
The other winter visitor here is the Asian Drongo Cuckoo or the Square-tailed Drongo Cuckoo. Notice the square tail. It came as close as 15 ft perch vertically above me. They are curious bird as if it want attention. They will sit put for minutes looking at you if it see you are not a threat.

Several bulbuls were seen feed on remnant fruits at the carpark as shown below. Again my last lifer of the Black & White Bulbul has been elusive. I have to work hard and go to Taman Negara for that one.......................
The female Green-back FC is as tame as you can get everywhere you see them when wintering in peninsula. This was was shot from close quarters of just 15 ft as it eye the mealworm served by bird photogs.
Next weekend will be in Ipoh for ChingMing. So there will be opportunity to visit Sayong Forest Reserve or MalimNawar Will report on what I find there Cheers and Happy birding

Avian Field Report - Birding in Kemensah in the month of March 2016
Not being birding for awhile so last weekend I went to my nearest hunt in Kemensah to try out my luck. Hoping for the Ruddy K to turn up but zilt - no luck. Saw a red & black broadbill diligently setting up its nesting. Its other half was not seen though.
The surprise catch for the day is the Brown Hawk Owl which was seen roosting on a durian tree in the late morning.
