Rufous Piculet
There are 3 species of Piculet in SEA. The
Speckled is the other found in Peninsula Malaysia whilst the White-browed which
have same resemblance of RP except for the white brow which is found in
northern part of SEA.
Piculet are miniature Woodpecker the size of flower peckers - 4 inches or 10cm. The Rufous Piculet likes bamboo and broadleaved forest upto 1500m or so. It peck on twiggy dead branches in the undergrowth for grub mostly ants, termites etc
