BULBUL 7/25 - Streak-eared Bulbul

Streak-eared Bulbul

Wow a lifer sighted at Alor Setar. I was wondering what bulbul could be seen in coastal arid ground. Running through the reference book the give-away white streak marking on it face points to a Streaked-eared Bulbul. Size normal for a bulbul 20 cm / 8 in. pale eyes and long tailed. It can be mistaken for the Olive-winged Bulbul which also have some streaking at its cheek.

It suppose to be common bulbul if you are in the right habitat. Bulbuls are very adaptive and move a lot depending on season where shrubs and coastal trees fruits. So at times they are not seen in an area for a while until there are berries fruiting trees in bloom.

Further read indicate that it is more seen in northern peninsula and in open grounds semi desert enviroment like in Kuala Kedah
