SUNBIRD 1/11 - Plain Sunbird

Plain Sunbird

Small bird of about 5 inches. It flew and perched near me. It kept singing for a good 3 minutes but flash it once and it literally jump and flew off..............signed Plain sunbird has the straightest beak amongst its species in Malaysia

Plain Sunbird is uncommon. It can be sighted at middle storey of broadleaved evergreen forest but rarely in mangroves. Male have a blue green forehead patch and greyish throat to breast. Go after nectar of flowering trees and grubs. The bird can really sing........ chooweettt! repeatively
My sightings are in FRIM and now in Hulu Langat.
Captured Langkap-Ipoh Talang Nov2024
