WADER 4/60 - Purple Swamphen
Purple Swamphen
My lifer during the CNY 2007 when the family
went to Tanjung Tualang for fresh water prawns and seafood. They are found in
freshwater pond ie mining pond and BatuGajah-Bidor stretch you can easily sight
them in pairs . It is quite a big bird and secretive and will move away as you
approach them. If you digiscope then no problem. Like me with just a 400mm lens
you can only cropped your photo shown here. The overcast sky did not help.
Juvenile duller and blackish bill They have this unique feet with long artilage
not webbed though to walk on reeds, lotus and hyacinth plants They feed on
vegetation. Beautiful bird they are.......
