SHRIKE 1/3 - Tiger Shrike

 Tiger Shrike

Shrike  are migrant birds which drop by to Malaysia  in the months  September till April. It can be seen everywhere in the urban gardens coastal fields and  fringes of hill & lowland forest.
Preys on Insects and ground grub. Unlike the Brown Shrike which set up territorial rights by giving harsh chattering call for the weeks of arrival the former is some what quiet.

This is my latest shot at Taman Negara October 2019 at a close distance of only 25ft. in condusive lighting and background. I would say in perfect chance. This a Juvenile/ First winter without its black mask and black-tipped pinkish mandible It is still fully brown from head to tail. They are one of the first visitors in the coming wintering season up north. Beside Shrikes; the Siberian Blue Robin can seen at  most our the favorite ports.
