WADER 44/60 - Eurasian Curlew
Eurasian Curlew
Eurasian Curlew is in the large shorebird category most similar in appearance to the Eastern Curlew which the latter is less seen in Malaysia. It is mostly creamy-washed in color, differentiated from other curlews by its plain, unpatterned underwing with a more whitish back and rump compared to Eastern Curlew which have more rufous and buffier colors.
They have extremely long downturn bill, of at least a footer in length. The one I saw in Jeram Selangor has a beak as long as its legs which at least 18 inches.
