Avian sighting October 2018 - Siberian Blue Robin
After the news of sighting of the same bird at UK Genting many of us were up there to get better shots of this beautiful bird in the month of September. However the bird appearance is erratic and depending on your bird luck it will appear for you.
Last Sunday I was the only birder in Lanchang. I was hoping to gey my lifer of the Great Iora but alas it was a no show. Instead I was sitting out at the A88 port for the late morning and surprising it pop out in the open as I was standing from the hide. Lighting was fanstatic as I can shoot at 1/125-250s. It helps to freeze the ever wagging tail of this Robin.
I suspect that it is the same juvenile bird that I shot in the month of March this year. Now it is a handsome looker with its blue coat and black streak line from its throat to breast. Sometimes visitng birds do prolong their stay for a season before returning back to northern asia continent. The same case of the Hooded Pitta in Shah Alam of last year. Some of them stays for good if they get to mate and propagate like the commorants in Malim Nawar.
So guys if you want to get better pictures you can drop by there. But please keep the place tidy of rubbish and litters for the benefit of all. I believe it will stay until March 2019 or so............ cheers
