The White-necked can be mistaken for the Black-throated in the undergrowth. Both are beautiful lowland forest birds and they can be differentiated by their distinct call. Like any babbler it response to your playback of their call. It is called White-necked for its white spotty neck. It also has a grey ear and a buff lore ie nose. Juvenile has an overall brownish undercoat breast/neck.
It is about 6 inches long.
Now to look for the Grey-breasted Babbler as my collection of Malaysia Peninsula's babbler species is coming to a close.
