I was alone at Awana. Met TH Tang and his young novice birder Chris. Today I chance on a family of five birds. There must be a few juveniles fluttering their wings and calling to be fed. The bird can be seen at the foothill - Frasers Hill where there is plenty of bamboo outcrop. Problem is nobody stays long enough at the Gap to look for the bird. This is why it is an uncommon bird to see. But I think it is easier to see here in Genting Highland. Best of luck guys.
Still, I have not managed to get sharp photos of this bird as it stays a bit out in the ravine and they appear in the open for a short period of time of less than a minute. Active and chattery bird ..........
Meanwhile the highland is blooming and fruiting; some are still green and some are already attracting the Bulbuls and Barbets and Pigeon. The Wreath Hornbill was around in the morning.
I saw these earlier in the year in the same area. Great birds, and a great birding spot!
ReplyDeleteGood for u. Its a rarity It will go missing for months at times.
DeleteHi Mike
ReplyDeleteDesperate question.. I am in KL for only a couple of days. I thought Taman Rimba Ampang for birdwatching. Unfortunately information online is so old. Do you have any information on close to KL locations? Hiring driver is very expensive. Thankyou
