Golden-bellied Gerygone
ID the bird after comparing its features with
WengChun photos taken at Putrajaya Wetlands. It will remain as such until
fellow birders can tell me otherwise. It is found commonly in suburban parks and garden in the city.
This bird has a melodious voice and it is the size of flowerpecker say 4 inches. Its upper part is dull grey-brown whilst its throat to its belly is yellow. Gerygone is also recorded as a foster parents to cuckoo. Their nest is like a hanging baskets made up of feathers mosses straws and the likes. The nest will be hanging about 8-10 ft from the ground. Breeding starts in Feb-April.
