Another lifer feather for my blog. A few more
to go to complete my flycatcher list. The Rufous-chested Flycatcher is recorded
as a uncommon bird of Peninsula. It is a resident here , Indonesia, Thailand
and Brunei...........
The Rufous-chested flycatcher is almost the same as the Mugimaki in colors but smaller in size coming in at only 12cm. Its wing's white streak is longer and wavier. The latter is a visitor and prefer the cool highland altitude. Rufous-chested is found in lowland evergreen forest upto 850m. It do at times move up to montane forest like Fraser's Hill. Sighting in Langkawi was also recorded.

Finally after numerous weekends I manage to
get this picture of the female. Damn happy. Actually I got a low resolution
picture of it at the far end carpark last 2 months ago but was not able to id
it at that time.
It's give away feature was its eyering hollow. It was a very shy bird compared to its partner. Last sunday it was game to come out and the guys Yee, Jeff ,Seah Woon and Ng were having a field day. I reluctantly had to skip after the morning session. I hope to get some better shots................
