Rufous-vented Niltava
This is my Niltava no 2 a lifer . The Large
Niltava is the other common one sighted in Cameron. No Little Niltava as
yet..... not in Malaysia. The Rufous-vented have no luminous blue patch to its shoulder-wing. It likes the higher elevation forest and
montane coolness no less than 1500m. This one sighted at the telekom outpost at
the peak of Gunung Brincang.
It is now a resident of Malaysia and may originated from Sumatra and it is quite curious bird like many other flycatcher it will popped out onto a open branch 15-20 feet from you posing & looking at you and than off it go never to be seen for the day. So it is my habit to shot first and compose better shots later.
Moth season is a spectacular time here at the peak when all birds congregate to feast on the insects. Will plan for next year 2010..............
